Located on the northwestern coast of the Island of Maui between beautiful Kaanapali Beach and the village of Kahana. Honokowai is best known for its excellent off-shore reefs which are great for snorkeling and scuba diving. Until 1990 sea turtles were abundant in the area but during the 90's a natural algea developed on the reefs which drove the turtles away. Fortunately the reefs are now returning to their original health along with the turtles and once again gaining fame for this popular activity. Also located in the area is an archealogical site now being uncovered by the Univercity of Hawaii. Tourist are welcome to visit by contacting the local visitors bureau.
